About The Foundation
The Youth and Children Development Foundation (YOCDEF) is an indigenous not for profit organization founded in 2018 by a group of youth to advance sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and promoting sustainable socio-economic transformation of youth for self-sustainability.
We concentrate our work on raising public awareness to promote knowledge to adequate (SRHR) services and conducting training programs to empower the youth for inclusive economic growth and development to support the overall well-being of future generations.
YOCDEF focuses its efforts on youth, children, women and persons with disabilities in Wakiso, Mpigi and Mukono districts of Uganda. The organization is under management of well qualified persons ranging from
board of directors, staff and volunteers. Since its inception in 2018, the foundation has empowered over 80,000 young women and girls with accurate information, support and resources to make informed decisions about their bodies. Focusing on providing people with the knowledge and tools they need to manage their sexual and reproductive health. It has supported over 40,000 young people with access to trainings on our skills
development hub and reduced unemployment, created over 15,000 direct and indirect jobs and generated over $15,000 in revenue.
The Foundation’s mission is rooted in Afrocentric, positioning both the health and economic sectors as the catalyst for the development of the African continent.

OUR MAIN OBJECTIVES:
1) To promote sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of youth,
raising public awareness, inform and mobilize the public on access to safe
and adequate SRHR services at different community levels.
2) To train, strengthen and promote sustainable socio-economic skills
advancement of youth towards self-employment. Offer poverty alleviation
programs such as savings knowledge, VSLA formation, vocational and
technical skills training, financial literacy, and home based agriculture
value addition, market development as well as conserving the
environment.
3) To strengthen the institutional capacity of YOCDEF to effectively deliver
on its mandate.
